I’m looking to play around with Cinch tonight. It’s a service from BlogTalkRadio that I learned about from Dave Winer. He calls it “the simplest podcast API ever.” It is literally atomic in what it does: call (646) 200-0000, record your voice message, and pick up your feed at http://cinch.blogtalkradio.com/
I read/watch Alpha Trends so when a search for BTR returned a hit from the blog, I followed the link. “Blog Talk Radio is supported by audio advertisements which is good for the company, but what is the incentive (besides hopes of being discovered) for the radio hosts? If this business is going to survive they will have to share advertising dollars with the content providers.”
I disagree. BTR is in the distribution business. They connect providers to consumers. It’s a middle-man and there are plenty of companies that do what BTR does. [companies that.,..] all use their provider’s customers as an advertising audience.
What I see as more important is giving both BTR and their producers the ability to garner advertising dollars. In other words, they need to find a mainstream landing point, an audience.
